A log cabin in the woods is a staple of the West. But the reality of forest fires and other seasonal concerns can leave homeowners at odds with Mother Nature. Stewart Hansen, president of EverLog Systems, felt this reality when nearly a thousand homes were lost in fires throughout Montana in 2000. With the concept of worry-free homes in mind, he and his business partner started EverLog Systems, building structural, handcrafted, concrete logs used for houses, cabins, and luxury homes. The homes eliminate structural instability and costly maintenance, while attaining resistance to fire and insects. The concept has spread throughout the country with custom homes appearing from Tennessee to nearby Island Park, Idaho.

Hansen said in recent years he has noticed a rise in second homeowners looking to build sustainable structurally sound homes to pass down to their family without the need for major upkeep. “The want to lock up, come back, and have the home in perfect shape,” Hansen said.

EverLog Systems is based in Missoula, Montana. Find out more about their fresh take on log homes at EverLogs.com
